| About Daniel Martinez |
| I
was born in Iquitos Peru in 1977. I started playing guitar at the
age of 14 when my mother gave me a used guitar that somebody had
given to her. I named my guitar “Slash” (Gun’s
N’ Roses first guitar). I practiced learning new sounds and
chords by ear. I was soon playing in several bands with friends,
in high school on the Folklore Music Team, and on the Praise Team
in my church.
I moved to Lima, the capitol city of Peru, to study in the University
(Adventist Union Peruvian University). I played second guitar with
some friends there. I assisted the Dean of the Music School doing
some music tracks and music accompaniment for the college choir.
Because of my previous experience with the Praise Team in my home
church I was asked to play for the Praise Team at the University.
In 2001 I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and then
I finish my Public Accounting in 2002.
Music was not very important in my life until I decided to study
English in The United States. In July 2002 I went to Union College
in Lincoln Nebraska to study ESL (English as a Second Language).
In November of that year I played guitar in church for song service
and some solo performances. I began to gain a real interest in my
guitar playing especially when my guitar teacher at Union College,
Tsui Man Kin, invited me to join the Union College Guitar Ensemble.
He taught me new classical guitar skills that improved my music
and guitar skills. I tried my hand at competition performance and
won first place in the talent show two years in a row.
In August of 2005 I married and moved to Alamosa Colorado where
I set up my music company, DMD Guitar, and began teaching lessons,
writing music, and preparing for concerts. I also put into motion
plans for recording a new CD.
In 2006 I recorded my first CD, “With Gratitude”, with
various techniques and styles. The CD has songs that feed the soul
with inspirational Christian music. Using my acoustical guitar that
my father gave me I used various styles such as jazz, classical,
and Latin styles to complete the project. It was very rewarding
for me to have this project accepted by Chapel Music as one of their
new artists for 2006.

In
2007 I recorded my second CD “In His Hands.” This project
was my first experience in writing and recording some of my own compositions
like the feature title of the CD “In His Hands” and “My
Good Shepherd.” It is a great feeling to know that I have been given
a wonderful talent and I am expanding my horizons in the field of music,
instrumental acoustical guitar, and composition and learning about the
universal language of music.
I thank God for giving
me the gift to play for Him. I am also grateful to my parents for encouraging
me to play, for my wife who helps me manage my music business, and all
my friends who support me and love listening to my music. |
